GCL Marine Solutions
The Challenge
GCL Marine Solutions specialises in serving the Greek shipping community, via a continuously growing network of carefully selected partners worldwide. Their services portfolio aims to the smooth, cost effective, reliable and professional port call of every type of vessel.
The brief was to create a distinct, modern and fresh logo and identity, with elements connecting it to the shipping industry.
Apart from the logo, I was asked to design their company brochure, business cards, and website coming up with and maintaining a clear and consistent brand identity.
The Solution
Logo Creation
The logo is inspired by the anchor of the ship, a distinctive shape that brings to mind safety and security, and is immediately associated with the company’s field of work. The anchor consists of the letters G,C and L, combining the anchor element with the letters of the company.

The typeface was selected for its geometric form, which aided in making the anchor symmetrical and harmonious, as well as for its modern and clean aesthetic.
The colour palette is fresh and stands out from the competition that mainly uses shades of blue, connecting the brand to the sea in an unprecedented manner.
Company Brochure
The cover of the company’s brochure is minimal but bold, combining graphic elements and photography. I created a pattern out of the GCL anchor and used it discreetly on the front and back cover. The inside of the brochure has a simple and clean layout, with the discreet GCL anchor pattern on the side of each page.
Business Cards
The business cards are vibrant and distinct. UV spot printing was used for the GCL anchor on the contact details side of the cards.
Website
A single page WordPress template was used to create the company website. A lot of colour and photography is used throughout the website, in order to give it a vibrant, fresh and modern feeling, while at the same time keeping it professional.
