MY ROLE

Leading product design and shaping early research and strategy

Playfaire was a mobile app designed to help parents easily connect with nearby families. By allowing users to broadcast their availability to friends or the broader community, it simplified spontaneous meetups and eliminated the friction of group chats or scheduling. The product aimed to foster real-world connections in a simple, low-effort way.

My role was to shape the product experience, support initial research, and bring the MVP to life in close collaboration with the founder and development team.

My Role

I joined at the concept stage to lead product design and help shape the overall strategy. I defined the app’s structure, creating wireframes and the UI design, and established the visual and tonal direction.

Working closely with the founder, I helped identify key features and user needs. I supported early research and testing, including user interviews and Maze-based validation, to ensure our ideas were grounded in real-world feedback.

Beyond visuals, I focused on the app’s architecture and user flows, aiming for a clear, intuitive experience that reflected our values of warmth, simplicity, and ease of use.

Reflections

Designing for real-world connection was a welcome shift from engagement-driven platforms. We aimed to reduce noise and friction, making it easier for parents to feel supported and socially connected in everyday life.

The team’s collective expertise helped shape an intuitive solution that was mindful of the emotional and logistical challenges of parenting. We focused on building a lightweight product that could fit naturally into daily routines.

Although the product didn’t move beyond the MVP stage, some families began using it, offering valuable insight into spontaneous connection. It was a meaningful process that highlighted the value of thoughtful research, clear design, and honest collaboration.
